Currently, we are looking for a Project Manager for a contract position in Rockville, MD. Project ManagerSUMMARY: Provides coordination and oversight for large scale, multi-team, company projects from inception to completion. Plans, directs, and coordinates project management activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and/or objectives of the projects are accomplished within the prescribed scope and funding parameters. Responsible for overall accountability and management of quality, time and budget of project deliverables. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following essential job functions ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:· Lead project team to successful completion of project, encourage collaboration, promote the flow of information among all participants and provide clear direction on how to meet project goals.· Implement standard project management practices that facilitate the timely delivery of all projects and ensure all are within scope, well-communicated, resourced effectively, meet the needs of our customers and contribute to our corporate vision.· Deliver company projects which are in line with determined baselines for time (schedule), cost, resources, scope and quality.· Consult and review with project’s departmental management to gain a better understanding of the objective in order to determine timeframe, funding limitations, feasibility, procedures for accomplishing the project and staffing/resource requirements. · Identify resources (people, dollars, facilities, equipment, etc.) and key milestones in conjunction with Marketing, Product Management, Departmental Management, Project Review Board (PRB) and/or third party consultants. · Responsible for projects progress, deliverables, quality assurance, customer service and the accountability and deliverables of other project team members.· Develop detailed project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of critical success factors, risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources (internal and external) for each phase of the project and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel. · Assign specific tasks to team members and develop team behaviors and operating rules. · Mentor, guide, and oversee team members in planning, executing the work and providing a high level of customer service to the organization. · Direct and coordinate activities of team members to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. · Prepare project status reports and executive summaries to keep management, internal customers, and others informed of project status and related issues. · Clearly communicate with team members through meetings, phone calls, report distribution and any other means needed in a timely manner.· Report to PRB, Product Management Group and/or departmental management on mitigating steps and actions taken to increase performance efficiency, reducing risks, identifying changes and alternative solutions and ensuring timely deliverables.· Establish clearly understood expectations, communications, escalations and feedback to all team participants.· Create project management processes which are easily understood and replicated within the organization. · Communicate project plan revisions and scope changes during project life cycle to PRB, team and client.· Focus on tasks associated with project success such as project planning, time, cost estimating, leading the project team, controlling variances to the baseline and successfully transitioning the project to operations and support.· Monitor project results against technical specifications. · Obtain, through customer satisfaction and acceptance testing, project signoff of completion.· Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems/conflicts. · Oversee more than one project at a time depending on scope of work of each project. · Occasional travel to complete essential functions of the position. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Typically requires an advance degree or equivalent and 9 or more years’ of related professional experience, with 4 – 6 years of project management experience in software technology industry preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. Prior experience effectively leading a project team to successful completion of project, encouraging collaboration, promoting the flow of information among all participants, and providing clear direction on how to meet project goals is preferred. Knowledge of project software tools and methodologies required. Knowledge and understanding of business, technological, political, social and competitive trends is needed. Must have experience with office software used for analysis and presentations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including MS Project is a must.
