Project Manager- DMS & Smart Grid-Power Job in Charlotte 28262, North Carolina US
Job Title Power Delivery and Utilization Knoxville, TN, Charlotte NC or Palo Alto CA Job Functions: Provide leadership and project management related to research, integration and deployment of electric utility Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and the coordination of Smart Grid regional demonstration projects to integrate distributed energy resources (DER) including distributed generation, storage, demand response and renewable generation.
This position will identify approaches for interoperability and integration that can be used on a system-wide scale to help standardize the use of DER resources as part of overall system operations and control with a particular focus on DMS integration.
This position will be responsible for performing and managing work associated with the multiple demonstration projects including analytical evaluation, economic assessment, laboratory and field assessment, and system integration including coordination of internal resources along with third party vendors and electric utilities.
Ideal Candidate: · Experience in performing and managing research activities· Project management with extensive experience in system integration of Distribution Management Systems · Knowledgeable in communication standards and concepts related to system integration of Distribution Management Systems and emerging requirements to integrate and manage Distributed Energy Resources (DER) including demand response and distributed energy resources including distributed generation, storage and renewable energy resources · Hands on experience in with development, deployment and operation of utility distribution management systems and interfaces, System Operations and Planning, SCADA systems, outage management systems, and automatic metering infrastructure (AMI).
· Maintain technical expertise and good national and international technical networks with manufacturers, consultants, academia and research organizations.
· Communicate strategies and results, written and verbal, to program membership and potential members through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
Education Level and Years of Experience: · Bachelors or masters in electric engineering, power system engineering, or communications (desired).
A Technical or BS degree with relevant professional experience will be considered.
· Has knowledge of emerging international standards for communication architecture to support DMS integration, open-systems based automation, legacy communication systems now in use and future trends · 7+ years experience in the electric utility industry that includes roles working on projects related DMS system design, deployment and operation.
