Underwater Power Cable Engineer to assist in the development and deployment of multiple superconductor cable projects.
Will work with a professional technical staff in support of advanced superconductor power cables product or product lines as they advance from demonstration to production stage.
Will draw on expertise in conventional cable design to assist cable companies in their development efforts and to provide product input back into the superconducting wire development team to provide guidance.
Duties: · Drive the superconductor wire product development process through multiple projects to optimize the superconductor wire cost/performance metrics.
· Work with cable companies to resolve issues related to product cost or technical performance.
· Manage cable technical aspects between multiple projects.
· Identify, develop, and execute component development projects in support of superconductor wire product.
· Seek outside funding sources when possible to minimize the cost of product development.
Requirements: BS or higher degree with 5+ years of experience in an underwater utility cable manufacturing environment on existing product design and manufacture, and new product development.
Working knowledge of standards for cable type and production testing.
Demonstrated and sustained experience in managing subcontractors.
In depth knowledge of utility distribution and transmission practices.
Experience in the commercialization of products.
Working knowledge of MS Project.
Self starter and independent working attributes are essential.
Demonstrated competency in a technical field with the ability to understand complex engineered products.
Good oral and written communication skills.
