Project Accountant Job in Herndon 20171, Virginia US
We have an immediate opening for a Project Accountant to work with our Professional Services Accounting Team.Key Responsibilities: - Establish invoicing requirements by reviewing fixed price, cost plus award fee, cost plus fixed fee, or time and materials contracts - Process monthly invoices (T&M, CPFF, CPAF and FFP); itemizes charges; coordinates invoice specifics with management; retrieves invoice approvals; creates and maintains billing files.
- Review contract/task information such as labor hours, labor categories, bill rates, funding, period of performance, and other charges to be billed to the client; ensures information matches invoice; makes necessary updates to accounting system - Confirms invoice by comparing invoices to contract requirements; verifying billing and indirect cost rates; verifying compliance with Accounting Standards, with special attention to assure compliance with policies and SOX requirements- Incorporate contractual modifications to ensure the accuracy of data used - Verify the accuracy of charges, correct errors in accounts - Ensure invoices will be posted for revenue recognition - Unbilled Analysis- Maintain all contract data and documentation.
- Interact with and provide assistance to internal customers (Contracts, Project Control, Finance, Project Management, Collections, etc.) - Setup and maintain project cost and bill plans in accounting systemKey Requirements: - A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or candidate preferred.
- 3 - 5 years work experience in A/R, Prior experience Billing in a government contractor environment.
- Prior work experience with billing for both products and services.
- Prior work experience analyzing data to create reports and summaries.
- Experience using an ERP system.
- Must possess a strong competency in Excel.
- Must have high-energy work ethic and be available to work non-standard hours during peak season times.At GTSI, our top priority is our people.
