Job Description:
Lead Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for body construction.

Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity.


Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.


Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes.


Lead process audits to ensure process discipline consistent with Vehicle Operations.


Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes.


Deliver capable processes and tools for body shop operations.


Lead role in resolving assembly related concerns for body shop.


Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause and improvements.


Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices.


Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards.


Support ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required.


Drive development and/or installation of direct and indirect labor standards and methods.


Responsibility for labor tracking, efficient manpower utilization and line balancing.


Conduct Job Ergonomics evaluations.


Analyze problem process constraints and conduct equipment cycle time analysis.


Recommend most efficient distribution of manpower and review daily employee manpower, analyze plant methods and standards.


Prepare or direct the preparation of cost estimates of new or revised methods and standards.


Review proposed changes in plant layout, processes, material handling, routing, etc.
Analyze production and non-production operations to determine those requiring study and develops new or improved methods and standards.


Conduct time and motion/MODAPTS studies and review employee proposals and suggestions.


Assembly plant position desires experience and skills that are but not limited to:
Develop cycle line layouts for current and future models utilizing ACAD.


Lead job methodization and process allocations.


Coordinate engineering changes and planning.


Conduct value stream mapping and process audits.


Develop cost saving project proposals and write projects as required
Interface with UAW to settle any job disputes
Assist production in planning labor allocations for mix and line speed changes Requirements include:
Engineering degree in a related discipline.


Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication skills.


Candidates ideally will have 5+ years of related experience.
