Principal Scientist, Nutrition Job Job in Barrington, Illinois US
DescriptionPepsiCo Nutrition is central to the Company's future and instrumental in innovation efforts.
This role is integral in helping to shape the organization in these efforts for the global Quaker food, snack and beverage businesses so they reflect company wide approaches.
This position has responsibility for global project and process management that requires a broad scope and understanding of international and US nutrition agendas.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESEvaluate and translate complex technical information to identify opportunities for new and reformulated products and/or more compelling communications for existing products.
Enable the organization to make right/better decisions on innovation on health and wellness related issues.
Continue to build capability and higher levels of competency and trust within the international nutrition community and with the groups' customers.
Leverage position housed in US business to foster communication and sharing of best practices across the globe.
Build key relationships across a complex matrix environment with competing priorities, with ability to balance scientific interests with commercial needs.
Provide leadership to Quaker regional partners by recognizing opportunities of synergy and cross collaboration in terms of sharing scientific and technical insights.
Requirements: SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBS plus 7+ years experience; MS with 4+ years; PhD with 3-5 years experience in Nutrition and/or Food Science.
High level understanding of human nutrition Strong leadership presence and ability to work and communicate effectively in cross functional teams, while aggressively working together to meet timelines.
Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills Self- starter with excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to translate complex scientific information to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Flexibility and ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds, personalities, work styles with in various levels of the organization.Use scientific technical expertise for identification and evaluation of trends/ innovations in nutrition science and novel ingredients.
A thorough and current understanding of nutrition labeling and regulatory concepts is required through technical reading, industry interaction and attendance at appropriate seminars and educational courses.
Maintain and interpret current FDA/USDA regulations as it applies to the businesses.
Ability to recognize and understand the relationship between ingredient chemistry, processing impact and nutritional effect.
Champion nutrition education and training for internal audiences.
Enable sound business decisions and generate positive business results.

Monitoring of project work by the team and org health results.
Feedback from stakeholders and regional NutritionFeedback from stakeholders and regional Nutrition Directors to transfer information or approaches to find solutions.
