Principal Control/Automatic Engineer Job in Richland 99354, Washington US
Our client in the Northwest is seeking a Principal Control / Automatic Engineer to perform advanced engineering calculations, studies and design in accordance with engineering techniques and guidelines, evaluate, select and apply techniques, procedures and criteria to solve a variety of complex problems, prepare and revise technical manuals, procedures and other technical documents, provide work and technical direction to engineering staff, prepare cost estimate and schedules and monitor performance of assigned activities, evaluate proposals and make recommendations, plan, develop and coordinate engineering activities of complex products, perform or delegate detailed work necessary to determine the best solutions to complicated engineering problems, perform as a technical expert in particular engineering disciplines, interact with department technical staff and company peers to assure information is obtained and disseminated regarding projects, studies, and tests, and with Federal, State and Municipal agencies in addition to internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors for information.
Will also perform all work safely and ensure that safety is an integral part of each design for safe operation of designed equipment.
Selected applicants should have experience in developing control system design documentation for PLC and DCS applications under direction of the lead engineer (this experience must have been gained by producing design documentation for the nuclear, pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry), experience in the design and specification of Control and Automation systems both hardware and software associated with wet process and automated mechanical handling including, but not be limited to developing object based control system architecture for PLC or DCS, programming PLC or DCS systems using Function Block Diagrams and Sequential Function Charts, experience and understanding of various approaches to control system implementation eg ANSI/ISA 88 Batch Control Standards, including development of control philosophies Experience working to NQA-1 subpar
2. 7 is beneficial but not essential.
Experience in Programming Modicon, Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs, and HMI/SCADA applications is highly preferred.
Nuclear experience would be beneficial, but not required and must have essential office software proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
Bachelors degree in engineering, PE registration, and seven years related technical experience is required along with experience in the design, specification of automation systems associated with wet processes and automated mechanical handling.
