The da Vinci School is a non-profit private preschool and kindergarten program that has been in operation for 23 years.

We are currently building a fabulous new "green" campus which will enable us to add a few new classes for the 2010-2011 school year.

This is a preschool - not a daycare.

We are hiring now for these positions.

Positions available for 2 1/2 - 3 year olds, 3-4 year old classes, and we MAY add an additional prek (4 -5yr old) class.

All positions are part time - 8:30AM - 1PM.

Monday - Friday.We maintain a waiting list for admission to the school, but special consideration is given to staff children.The da Vinci School offers a science-based curriculum (in a thematic approach - incorporating all developmental areas) and believes that young children are very capable learners.

We also feel that gross motor coordination is critical to a well organized brain.

Our goal is to foster a love of learning in a fun and enriching setting.

A positive attitude and an enthusiastic teaching style is a must.

The teacher must be creative, nurturing, observant and willing to customize their lesson plans to meet the changing needs of their young students.

Our teachers use an extensive developmental checklist to insure that the children are being exposed to a broad range of developmental skills at the appropriate time.

Thus, a strong commitment to maintaining an interesting and engaging hands-on class is essential.

Teachers do not need to spend their own money on teaching resources as the school has an extensive and well organized teacher resource library.Our classes are small - (a 2 1/2 - 3 year old class has 7 students, a 3 year old class has 8 students, a prek class will have 9 or 10 students) so the teacher gets to know and interact with their students and the student's parents.

We take great pride in the quality and commitment of our teachers as we view the first six years of life as the most important years in a child's total development.

Most of our teachers have been with The da Vinci School between 7 and 14 years.

Each teacher carries forward the good name and reputation of the school.

For the best interest of the children, our expectation is that someone only accept a teaching positon if they are reasonably certain they can complete a school year.

Teachers arrive at school by 8:30 AM. Class begins at 8:45 AM. Children eat lunch in their classrooms and are picked up at 12:15 PM. The teacher cleans up their room, sets up for the next day and is free to leave.

Staff are expected to attend monthly staff meetings, staff development functions and a few special events during the school year.

New teachers are expected to teach in a few of our summer camp sessions for training and orientation.

A mentor is provided to help a new teacher become oriented.

The school maintains a calendar similar to the other private schools with a winter break and spring break.

The school year ends in mid-May.

Summer camp (not required for school year teachers) runs in June and July.

We are closed for most of August.

Prior classroom experience with young children is required.
