Description of company The Rolled Products Division of Arnold Magnetic Technologies was established over 50 years ago and is a respected global industry leader in the processing of metals (cold rolled steel, nickel, stainless, titanium, silicon steel and other proprietary magnetic and non-magnetic alloys) for aerospace, military, automotive, power transmission and many other industrial markets.

Requirements · Education · Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Metallurgy (Mechanical).
· Technical · Material analysis (structural properties) which includes developing test plans for internal (within the capabilities of the business unit) and external testing.
Basic understanding and use, but not limited to, of test instruments such as SEM, EDX, metallographic and micro hardness testing, to name a few. · Basic knowledge of cold reduction of metals through the use of cluster mills to achieve precision cold rolling.
· Basic knowledge of annealing/heat treating of metals.
· Basic knowledge of slitting of metals.
· Basic knowledge of magnetic materials as they pertain to permanent and soft magnetic materials.

· Work experience · Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years experience in an area relevant to the position.
· Metal strip products experience that encompasses at least four (4) of the following eight (8) groupings, nickel iron alloys, nickel based and high-temperature alloys, titanium alloys, ferrous based alloys, spring alloys, controlled expansion alloys, copper based alloys, magnetic and cobalt alloys, nickel chrome and stainless steels.
· Industries: Aerospace and Defense, Power Generation, Medical, Battery, Chemical, Computer, Automotive and General Industrial.
· Level of travel required · Less than 10 percent in a year.

· Minimum education background consists of a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy (Mechanical Metallurgy is desired not entirely mandatory) or closely related technical field of study as it pertains to metals and metal processing of coil/strip products.
The Plant Metallurgist must be able to evaluate each customer requirement and/or application in order to assure that it fits within the business units range of capabilities from the material being processed to the milling, annealing, slitting, heat treatment and packaging.
The Plant Metallurgist can be and usually is the first contact relative to any technical questions, and serves as the primary technical liaison between the division and the customer.
· Prior experience in the metals industry preferably with thin gauge (.

001 of an inch) metals that go into Niche markets.
· Prior experience in the magnetic materials markets is a definite plus but not entirely mandatory.
· The ability to understand a customers requirements and then convey this understanding to the plant is crucial to providing a quality product.
· Prior experience with supply management that identifies value added and value engineered opportunities for material consolidations, support re-sourcing activity, establish qualification programs, support alternative grade qualification, vendor selection and qualification.
To summarize, the Plant Metallurgist will identify and develop the necessary relationships within the business unit, sales and marketing, operations/manufacturing management, production personnel, purchasing, customer service, and vendors and outside technical resources.
The Plant Metallurgist will use these relationships for the needs of the business as well as personal and professional development.
The Plant Metallurgist will support multi-department efforts using his or her metallurgical knowledge and expertise.
