PC Test Technician (Electrical Test) Job in Austin 78735, Texas US
PC Test Technician (Electrical Test) Description: Volt Technical Resources has an immediate need for a PC Test Technician with a strong electronics background.
This is a long term, full time consulting opportunity within the silicon design validation test group of a major semiconductor company.
This position provides a very challenging technical environment working with cutting edge technologies.
EXTENSIVE PC configuration, and OS installation experience is necessary and high preference for previous testing experience under various platforms.
Successful candidates will be responsible for executing characterization, margining and/or compliance testing on a wide range of microprocessor and chipset products.
Responsibilities will also include running automated and manual test procedures on test systems and record results.
Perform isolation and regression testing on failures when required.
MUST be proficient in the usage of tools like high speed digital oscilloscopes, frequency generators, voltmeters / multimeters, and software-based tools.
NOTE: This position will initially start 8am-5pm M-F for the first month, but will eventually transfer over to 3-11pm to cover the 2nd shift.
Requirements: "Must Have" criteria/experience: * High school and 2 year associate degree (or equivalent) in electronics and/or computer technology and/or engineering.
* Demonstrate skills in reading electronic schematics, board layout and procedural documents.
* Should be able to easily identify the internal hardware components located on PC motherboards or other electronic equipment and have a solid understand of PC architecture, (what are the busses, etc), and have an electronics background (have used oscilloscopes, function generators, digital voltmeters, etc).
* Needs to be able to communicate and provide documentation to engineers and other technicians in a clear and concise manner.
* Quick learner and have a general working knowledge on computer software like email, word processing and spreadsheets.
* Must have strong project management skills to manage multiple tasks/work load.
