The Spear Group, Inc. has an immediate need for a Nuclear/Utility Project Manager II for a 1 year engagement in Newark, New Jersey for one of it's Utilities Clients.

Responsible and fully accountable for the full life cycle management of multiple large multi-discipline Utility projects, mostly in High Voltage Substations (69 kV and above) and may also include projects in the Low Voltage Stations (below 69 kV).

Projects shall be managed from time of assignment forward through closeout and turnover to operations to ensure that project objectives are achieved within approved scopes, budgets and schedules.

Responsible for the overall performance of a portfolio of projects to be managed by self and others reporting to this position.

Individual projects in this portfolio can be expected to range from small to moderate to $50 million to over $ 100 million in value.

Retain all accountability for cost and schedule performance of assigned projects.

Lead and direct the project teams.

Provide coaching and guidance.

Monitor and appraise performance.

As requested, lead business case development for projects to identify scope and gain Corporate / CRB approvals.

Develop and maintain project plans and schedules, conduct project reviews, resolve issues and get required associates and groups involved to ensure that the project plans are professionally and comprehensively planned and executed per ClientsStandards.

Assist the Permitting and Licensing professionals to expeditiously obtain permits.

Ensure full compliance with all environmental regulations and statutes.

Ensures that jobsite safety plans are prepared for all projects, that tail board talks are conducted and JSO are prepared.

Maintain and apply working knowledge of Clients Standards for Business Controls and Standards of Integrity and meet managements expectations for effective internal business controls.

Manage the successful completion (ie., safely, within scope, on schedule and within budget), lead and direct all aspects of the assigned projects working with a team of associates and contract employees with skills, accountabilities and expertise for terms and conditions, scope development, project estimating, funding approval, engineering and design, scheduling and cost analysis, licensing and permitting, outage planning, scope change control, preparation of specification and bids, procurement of material and services, construction, EH&S and commissioning from the projects initial planning and development phase, through preliminary and detailed design, construction, start-up, turnover to Delivery Operations and close out phase.

Requirements: Candidate must possess the following education, experience, technical skills and behaviors: BS in engineering, business, or construction-related field or equivalent experience, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired with a requirement to obtain within 12 months of hire date; 10 or more years of Utility operations and/or construction/ project management/project controls experience with 5 years experience managing and/or controlling small to moderate projects up to $ 50M.

We prefer Project Managers with extensive experience in AE Firms or leading electrical manufacturing companies performing similar roles.

Safety first orientation.

Working knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn and adhere to job related safety rules, practices and procedures.

Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, proven management experience, excellent communicator, schedule-oriented, analytical with respect to processes, ability to establish courses of action for self and others.

Experience with SAP and other project management/control software.

Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and statutes.

Desired: 10 - 15 years of Electric field operations experience in a supervisory or management role, 10 years of experience in Electric Distribution/ Transmission general office equipment engineering/ design role, 5-10 years of Electric Transmission field construction experience, knowledge of Electric Delivery work management practices and procedures, knowledge of Electric Delivery Asset Management practices and procedures, Estimating experience, preferably for Electric T&D facilities, project controls experience.

Working knowledge of WBS structure & schedule creation including experience with Primavera and/or Microsoft Project.

Experience in or knowledge of the Design and Operation of the Electric Delivery system and its components.

Working knowledge of Client'sSafety Tagging Practices and Procedures.

Knowledge of the PJM Planning and RTEP processes.

Understanding of PJM rules for the scheduling of Transmission Outages.

Advanced degree in Management, Business or Engineering.

Business Acumen.

Professional Engineering License.
