Electric Power R&D Company Seeks Technical Leader for Nuclear Risk and Safety Management Projects (Charlotte, NC) The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for a Senior Project Manager with technical experience to lead and manage major research projects in the Risk and Safety Management area of its Nuclear Sector.
In This PositionEPRI Project Managers perform tasks outside of the traditional project management role.
Along with your typical project management duties, you will support the Risk and Safety Management (RSM) Strategic Research Plan.
This support includes technical leadership in any number of research areas and the need and ability to perform in depth research both individually and collaboratively.
The RSM research plan encompasses a wide range of technical areas, including but not limited to: · Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) methods development · Fire PPRA methods development· PRAs for external events· Level 2 and 3 PRAs · Consequence analysis · Risk management and safety culture · Unique applications of risk technology including application to areas such as: grid reliability, advanced plants, spent fuel storage, and security In addition to technical and managerial skills the successful candidate will need to be able to: · Work with sponsors (e.
g., utility, regulatory, research, government, academic, and consultant personnel) in collaborative environment to identify research needs and complete projects · Facilitate and participate in direct interaction with sponsors on spectrum of technical issues · Manage projects and contractors to perform within schedule and budget constraints · Provide consultation and issue resolution with sponsors · Develop technical research proposals including costs and schedule · Perform and publish technical analysis and research in the form of technical reports, presentations, academic papers, and journal articles The Ideal Candidate· Direct nuclear plant or utility service provider experience · Excellent written and oral communication skills · Demonstrated project management experience · Ability to work in a collaborative environment with diverse personnel and to resolve conflicts Education Level and Years of Experience· BS Degree in engineering discipline (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical or nuclear engineering) · Graduate degree preferred · 15+ years direct experience in the nuclear power industry · 10+ year experience in Probabilistic Risk Analysis required Note: To ensure compliance with US export controls, please indicate your US citizenship or (or foreign citizens) your US visa/immigration status in your resume or cover letter.
