Network Engineer Job in Atlanta, Georgia US
Local university seeking experienced Network Engineer to support campus IT operations.
Position is initially contract opportunity with the potential for permanent placement.
Responsibilities The Network Engineer plans, designs, develops, and troubleshoots local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to maximize availability of all network delivered services.
In addition, the Network Engineer coordinates and performs installs, monitoring, maintenance, documentation, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links.
This individual resolves all network service requests and problems promptly, courteously, and accurately, and provides end-user training where required.
The Network Engineer has the additional shared responsibility of system administration for institution application servers, which include Microsoft Server 2003 and Apple 10X We also have small Red Hat & Slackware Linux presence.
Position Requirements · Computer Science or Information Systems related degree· 3 years of network related experience.
· At least one year full-time hands-on with HP Procurve products· Proven network design, implementation, testing, and documentation experience.
· Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
· Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
· Team player who is self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail, and customer friendly.
· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Work Conditions · On-call availability.
· Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
· Some work activities in closeted and outdoor areas.
