GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is responsible for ensuring that our internal customers have a secure, efficient computing environment that enables them to effectively perform their jobs.
Specifically, this position will be responsible for the network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wireless), OSS core network, Data Center operations, and IT Help Desk administration.
The person filling this role needs to have a strong technical background as well as the skills to manage people and projects effectively.
The expectation is that the person filling this position be both capable and eager to have hands on involvement in the operation of the network, help desk and data center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions Network infrastructure Ensure the network infrastructure is adequate to meet the needs of the business today and in the futureWireless experience in Wireless NOC Alarm Monitoring systems and Care interface.
Netcool database administration.
Firewall/VPN Ensure that firewalls are up to date and adequate to protect company assets.
Network Security Ensure that protective measure are in place to prevent intrusions into the NetworkSpam Filtering Monitor spam filtering to eliminate spam while allowing legitimate email to processInternet Monitoring Maintain the corporate policies regarding internet access.
Windows Management Ensure that computers and servers have the latest patches; Deploy software and monitor licensing via SMSServer Administration Ensure that servers are deployed and maintained to meet customer specificationsVirus Protection Ensure that all PCs and servers have adequate virus protectionData backup Ensure that critical systems have data backupData Center Ensure a secure data center operationDisaster Recovery Ensure Disaster recovery plans are in place for key systemsPC Deployment deploy laptops/PCs to our employeesIT Help Desk Ensure that employees receive prompt and helpful support from the IT teamLicensing Ensure that software licensing is kept current and auditableTelecomm Ensure that the telecommunications structure meets business needs Working ConditionsMust be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per weekMust be able to perform system maintenance outside the normal business day window JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities); Education: Minimum: BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or the equivalent of 5 years of relevant work experience Preferred: BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering and applicable experience Experience: Required: 5 years of Experience in IT support for an office environment in a highly secure company environment.
NetCool, Granite, Remedy and other NOC OSS database management expertise.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking including DNS, HTTP, DHCP, NAT, FTP, and security protocalls.
Understanding of Microsoft Windows server 2000, 2003, and 2008 products, routing, switches, firewalls, and other associated network components.
Preferred: 10 years of Experience in IT support for an office environment in a highly secure company environment.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking including DNS, HTTP, DHCP, NAT, FTP, and security protocalls.
Understanding of Microsoft Windows server 2000, 2003, and 2008 products, routing, switches, firewalls, and other associated network components.
