Microstrategy Developer Job in Atlanta, Georgia US
The Application Engineer is part of the Business Intelligence team.
MicroStrategy is our preeminent technology used for reporting for Data Warehousing applications and is a critical component of the overall technology architecture at our organization.The Application Engineer will design and develop applications using the MicroStrategy developer tool including the MicroStrategy SDK. Experience in relational data modeling, logical data modeling and/or other analytic reporting tools such as Cognos, Business Objects, Crystal Reports or Microsoft Reporting Services is a plus.
Candidates must be able to communicate with business owners, users, and IT professionals with equal ease to create and preserve the functional integrity of the solution.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to operate in a team environment are essential, as are documentation and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities: * Work as a member of the delivery team to implement reporting and analytic solutions to our business partners.
* Develop reporting Microstrategy metadata including all project configuration for schema, dimensions, metrics etc.* Develop specific reports as needed.
* Work with the BI Architect and Informatica developers to prototype solutions for the purposes of defining requirements and developing designs.
* Develop, implement and maintain unit tests for applications.
* Participate in requirements gathering and definition.
* Participate in functional test planning.
* Develop and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the assigned applications, functional areas or projects.
* Work with the team to ensure the quality of coordinated business functions.
* Respond quickly and effectively manage production issues from discovery through resolution.
* Participate in project planning by providing scope and effort estimates.
* Participate in design and maintenance of enterprise architecture.
Qualifications: * Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience* Detailed knowledge and development experience with the MicroStrategy version 8 o
9. Experience with the MicroStrategy Software Development Kit (SDK) is preferred.
* Ability to develop reports based on documented reporting requirements.
* Ability to gather reporting and analysis requirements through prototyping.
* Strong SQL Skills.
* A sound general knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling.
* Knowledge of MicroStrategy administration, tuning and platform sizing.
* The ability to extract and document reporting requirements.
* Strong business writing and verbal communication skills.
* 4+ years of experience in Information Technology or related discipline.
* 2+ years of full time experience with MicroStratgy application development* Experience with Data Modeling (particularly relational and logical) and ERwin preferred* Ability to understand how to leverage the tools available to design the best, most flexible solution.
