Assist in planning, conducting and evaluating approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities: We are looking for a Detector Development Mechanical Engineer to work in an Engineering and Development environment on the design and development of nuclear detection devices used primarily in oil-well applications.
Design challenges include the high temperature, high pressure and high shock environment of an oil well.
The work involves being part of engineering project teams to develop instrumentation that detects nuclear radiation for inference of rock types, presence and quantities of oil, gas and water in subsurface rock formations.The scope of activity will include the following essential responsibilities: -Analyze, design, develop, maintain products and assist in their commercialization - in agreement with project technical and timing objectives.
Successfully undertake technical projects.
-Create and maintain product documentation (requirements, specification, design, development, integration, test procedures and results).
Recording of design and development work in an engineering database will be an integral part of work delivery.
-Design testing procedures and coordinate with others to perform tests.
-Conduct tests and document test results.
-Build prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing and may be required to set up and run lab simulations.
-Provide timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues.
-Design, produce analyses, mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those.
-Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts.
Ensure commitments are agreed, reviewed and met. -May assign, direct and review work of technicians and provide guidance to engineers.
-Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate the development plans.
-Identify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets.
Learn new skills and adopt new practices readily in order to develop innovative and low-cost products that maintain client's technical leadership position.
-Contribute to design standards and support design re-use (best practices, etc.) -Share expertise with peers throughout the organization.
Transfer of projects to manufacturing teams and sustaining of existing products will be expected.
There will be regular collaboration with other divisions of the company in the US and Europe.
Qualifications: -The successful candidate will have minimum of a Masters Degree (or equivalent), in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
-0-5 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering / 3D Modeling experience.
-Desired background knowledge area for this work includes experience with Finite Element Analysis modeling.
Thermal and stress analysis is also preferred.
-Pro-E experience for the modeling preferred.
Ansys or Abaqus experience for the analysis preferred.
-Knowledge of materials.
Experience evaluating and choosing based on specifications and requirements.
-Experience with nuclear radiation detectors and/or particle physics, vacuum technology or high voltage is preferred but not essential.
-Creativity and hands on approach to product development essential.
