Manager of Systems Engineering (290453-770) Job in Westmont 60559, Illinois US
Fry, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified hands on Manager of Systems Engineering who posses strong communication skills, a passion for getting the job done, and the ability to mentor and develop a team of highly-technical systems engineers.
Responsibilities: Lead, develop, and mentor the networking, platform (eg Linux, Windows), and database teams.
Provide direction to engineering resources during incident and problem management activities.
Foster a continuous improvement mindset and proactively work to identify and resolve recurring issues.
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with other internal Fry groups, clients, and external auditors.
Oversee the implementation of architectures and specific technologies that support both internal and client facing hosting operations.
Ensure that hardware and platform lifecycle standards are developed, adhered to, and maintained on a proactive basis.
Design and manage the internal and hosting system networks.
Facilitate performance evaluations and manage other HR activities.
Work with vendors to ensure service level agreements are met.Oversees the development of engineering related materials communicating to customers, internal Fry groups, and external auditors.
Required Skills: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field with more than 8 years related experience, including four or more years in a leadership role.
Experience in designing, planning, deploying, and troubleshooting issues in complex, highly-scalable, highly-redundant environments.
Experience in engineering infrastructure to run Internet accessible, secure, high volume commerce related web sites.
2+ years demonstrated experience in managing highly technical employees at multiple locations.
Broad, deep, and current experience in server and network engineering.
Proven knowledge of engineering methodologies and best practices.
Ability to understand requirements and develop solutions, communicating effectively with peers, clients, vendors, and management.
Proven results-oriented person with a delivery focus.
Strong communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills.
Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
Strong conflict resolution and team building skills.
Solid fundamentals in project management and managing expectations to deadlines.
Desired Skills: Strong experience in data center hostingStrong experience in LAN, WAN, and voice network architecturesStrong experience in Windows and Linux operating systemsStrong experience with database (eg MS SQL Server, Oracle) and application (eg Websphere, Tomcat) serversStrong understanding of Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard requirements.
Experience with SAS70 Type II certifications a plus.
