The Manager of Research and Development Alliances is responsible for supervising and mentoring a team of business analysts/project managers and subject matter experts that support the initiatives within Research and Development Business Alliances.

s/he will work collaboratively with program managers and other GIS staff in the team to properly resource and plan portfolio initiatives while providing guidance to the teams.

s/he will also fill a role as PM or BA as necessary on critical initiatives and provide a hands on approach on projects his team is involved in. This persons experience as a BA / PM will enable development of best practices within the organization.

This persons team will enable and support initiatives across five sites (Cambridge, MA; Iowa, San Diego, CA; Milton Park, UK; Laval, Montreal) supporting Vertex R&D organization .

s/he will understand their key objectives in order to execute against a roadmap of solutions for enabling the R&D organization and will coordinate resources according to budget.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervisor of a Business Analyst/Project Manager Team
Mentor and coach his team
Provides resource planning for the Business Analysts Team
Works collaboratively with the program managers and other business/GIS representatives to ensure appropriate staffing of projects
Act as project manager for specific GIS projects
Institute business analysis best practices within the R&D Business Alliances Team
Ensure quality, on time, on budgetdeliverables
Support development of integrated Business/GIS plans and roadmaps
Support Definition of budgets, timelines, and resources needed for Research and Development GIS initiatives.


Coordinate and set expectations with both the business and GIS departments around approach, solution design and project timeline
Evaluate and recommend new processes, initiatives, and technologies to further the current environment in alignment with the Vertex Business Plans.

Skills/Abilities Needed:

Knowledge of Pharma Research and Regulated system environments
Knowledge of FDA Regulated Systems Environments including but not limited to FDA validation
Experience supporting early research (e.

g discovery, chemical development, informatics, etc), lab systems or clinical development environments (clinical trials, EDC, Trials management, SAS/Biostats, etc.) is a plus.

QualificationsMinimum Education Requirements:
BS/BA in a Science, Information Systems or Computer Science Minimum Experience Requirement:
Previous experience working in a Pharmaceutical Research and Development environment
Minimum 7 years business analysis / project management and support of Research, Development and Lab Systems.


Demonstrated Management Skills in a Research Or Clinical Environment.
