OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIESManages a portfolio of projects with a focus on using next generation sequencing in medical genetics research.

Serves a point of contact between Broad project teams and project investigators for all stages of project initiation, project tracking and delivery of data.

Coordinates with multiple Broad Institute Platforms to ensure appropriate sample hand off, project tracking and delivery of data in a timely and efficient fashion to meet the scientific objectives.

Manages communication with Program leadership and scientists to ensure project goals and expectations are clear and that teams provide timely feedback on project progress or blocking issues.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES- Serves as the primary contact point between program investigators and platform staff to ensure work proceeds in a coordinated, efficient manner.

- The projects to be managed will involve utilization of multiple technology platforms, including large scale re-sequencing and SNP genotyping by large-scale, array-based methods.

- Manages all aspects of the projects, from initial project consultation, coordination of receiving samples and QC, scheduling of work with platform managers, data review and data delivery.

- Gathers information on IRB approvals and ensures appropriate sign off for sample sets given status of informed consent and data release requirements.

- In collaboration with Technology Platform managers, troubleshoots and monitors quality of projects throughout production process.

- Ensures that projects meet critical milestones and that work remains within budget.

- Works to anticipate needs of program investigators and platform team, including reporting on project status and delivery of results.

- Presents project summaries to internal and external project teams.

- Other related tasks as required.

SUPERVISION EXERCISEDNo formal supervisor responsibility.

May need to guide others, and will need to build support among diverse groups.

QUALIFICATIONS- PhD (preferred) in biology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Directly related industry experience preferred.

- At least 5 years proven Project Management experience required.

- Should have direct experience or should be highly familiar with genomic methodologies such as sequencing and array-based genotyping including technical aspects, quality control, and current methods of data analysis.

Must possess the management and communication skills suited to a professional research organization.
