Manager- Gatorade Sports Intelligence Job Job in Chicago, Illinois US
DescriptionThe Manager, Sports Intelligence, will be responsible for bringing new consumer-centric product and packaging innovations, functional equipment and brand concepts to life.
The individual will have a keen understanding of sports performance trends and athlete performance needs with the ability to apply this knowledge to forward-thinking solutions for groundbreaking products and ideas.
The successful candidate will work with the product innovation, insights and sports marketing teams to identify, prototype and activate new concepts in the marketplace.Key responsibilities include: - Assist in the development of the annual operating plan process including objective setting, strategic framework, tactical development and budget allocations.
- Conduit between the brand team and select property sports medicine influencers.
The Manager is accountable for all locker room/training room intelligence related to the areas of hydration and sports nutrition and provides valuable insight and perspective back to the brand team.
These insights provide the framework for ensuring that the Gatorade brand has a complete understanding of the latest athlete trends in the marketplace while also enabling it to maintain its position as The Sports Authority in understanding the athletes' total performance and sports nutritional needs.
- The Manager is directly responsible for managing select relationships with the Business Unit's team/individual sports medicine relationships throughout the US The Manager will cultivate new relationships, as well as enhance existing relationships, interacting with athletic trainers, strength coaches, head coaches, team doctors, nutritionists and fitness professionals.
- The Manager will identify and develop product and packaging offerings to remain on the cutting edge of the latest athlete sports nutritional needs.
The position will interact frequently with the Gatorade Sports Science Institute and Professional Marketing team to understand and address new competitive product offerings and leverage our science and educational platforms with team operations, athletes and media.
- Contribute to the strategic development and lead the execution of select sports influencer marketing and communication plans to effectively educate influencers about product benefits that result in recommendations, purchase and usage.
- Evaluate influencer programs and materials through ongoing research initiatives (focus groups, qualitative and quantitative studies) to achieve and track successful program outcomes.
- Develop and execute Gold Standard Service Field Plan for select contracted sports properties.
Gold Standard Service to be defined as: -Proactively and credibly deliver Gatorade product efficacy message across entire product portfolio.
-Proactively, effectively and credibly address competitive product efficacy claims.
-Proactively plan product and premium needs for upcoming athletic season.
-Manage team usage of online product ordering system.
-Lead the development of marketing materials in conjunction with GSSI and Professional Marketing for all Gatorade properties with a focus in education, product efficacy, and functional superiority over competitive products.
-Lead the athlete testing program and protocols ensuring key GSSI objectives are met. -Manage select professional organization relationships including but not limited to NATA, CSCCa, PFATs, NBATA, PBATS, PHATsEssential Functions: - Strong understanding and efficacy knowledge of hydration, sports nutrition and sports performance and exercise physiology.
- Strong observation, creative and inquisitive skills with a keen ability to translate ambiguous and/or complex observations and statements into business opportunities.
- Experience in and around a locker room, weight room, athletic training room, gyms, and fitness facilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues, trends and developments within the athletic training, strength & conditioning, fitness and sports nutrition industries.
- Ability to influence and develop strong business relationships.
- Strong empathetic capability across multiple consumer groups including teen, collegiate, endurance, professional and fitness athletes; and sports healthcare professionals across all athletic proficiency levels.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred- Minimum of 8 years practical experience as certified sports healthcare professional (eg ACSM, NATA, ADA, SCAN, NASM, ACE, NSCA, CSCCa, etc.)- Experience within the strength and conditioning, fitness and/or sports science industry preferred.
- Experience leading insight and concept development in a consulting and/or corporate environment a plus.
- Administrative and management experience a plus.
- Strong creative ideation facilitation capability and experience- In depth knowledge of the youth, collegiate, professional and fitness athlete consumers - Demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate relationships, build consensus and influence business partners; team player preferred- Excellent multi-tasking, project management and prioritization skills- Strong conceptual and strategic thinker- Creative skills with the ability to problem solve, seek alternative solutions to job tasks and generate fresh ideas.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including both tact and positioning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail- Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
