Machine Design Engineer / OEM Design Engineer Job in Detroit 48201, Michigan US
Due to growth, we are seeking to fill a position for a design engineer.
This individual will be responsible for design of automated machinery.
The position requires experience with the design and manufacture of complex automated mechanical assemblies, materials, and close tolerance parts.
The ideal candidate will have strong communications skills and the ability to refine concepts in a collaborative environment with customers and staff.
Background would typically include but not be limited to past roles as designer, field service engineer, mechanical engineer, or application engineer with a machine builder or automated systems manufacturer.
The ability to translate customer process requirements into working part and assembly drawings and models using Dessault SolidWorks 3D is critical to success in this role.
However, we have found that deep experience with 3D design software without the practical experience of machine design and manufacture is not compatible with our need.
A thorough understanding of materials and machining is preferred and past experience in a CNC machining or automated assembly environment is a plus.
We are an OEM that designs, manufactures, and sells high performance automated machinery for the winding and manufacture of energy efficient electrical coils, motors, generators and related electrical products.
We ara a small business and the company is undergoing growth and change.
The right individual would have growth opportunity to become engineering manager within 1-2 years.
There would be two - three direct reports.
