Loss Control Specialist Job in Worcester 01609, Massachusetts US
The Mutual Fire Insurance Association of New England, Inc. is a captive non-profit corporation that has been providing loss control services to an association of New England Mutual Insurance Companies since the 1920's.
Our companies are all New England domiciled and write business througout New England, Metro and Upstate New York and New Jersey.The MFIA LCS analyzes the property and general liability exposures of risks assigned and submits survey reports to our member company underwriters that assist them in making profitable underwriting decisions.
The aggregate book of business evaluated by our loss control staff is comprised of 70% habitational risks that can range from high value homeowners to multi-unit/multi-building apartment and condominium complexes.
The remainder of the book of business is comprised of "main street" commercial business, food service, warehousing and light manufacturing.
The LCS operates out of his/her home.
MFIA provides all necessary computer and field equipment and assumes the cost of a high speed internet connection.
The LCS accesses assigned inspections via the MFIA web based IT platform, completes the field survey, writes the survey report utilizing electronic Word template survey forms and uploads the complete survey to the MFIA server.
The LCS is responsible for managing his/her assigned workload and for completing surveys within assigned due date parameters.
The LCS is expected to complete an average of 18 survey requests per week.The territory associated with this job opening is Central Massachusetts/Metro West.
While the majority of the work the LCS will be assigned falls within that area, LCS will also be expected to provide supplementary coverage for the north and south shore of Boston as incoming request volume variations demand.
LCS will also be considered a provisional "floater" and can be expected to travel outside assigned territory as necessary which can include up to five consecutive overnights as part of that travel.
Candidates for this position should have 2-5 years of Property/General Liability Insurance Loss Control experience with the type of risks noted as characteristic of the book of business serviced by our company and have a sound understanding of the property and liability exposures pertinent to the profitable underwriting of those risks.
Candidates should have experience gathering the data necessary to complete MSB Replacement Cost estimates including the accurate measurement of buildings and the completion of CAD sketches/plans of those buildings on Apex or equivalent CAD products.
Candidates should have familiarity with digital photography and the process of uploading photos from camera to computer and the process of inserting photos into survey reports.
Candidates must have experience working in a "virtual office" environment and have a demonstrated ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
This is a salaried, full time position which includes a company car and benefit package.
