Linux Validation Development Technician Job in Austin 78735, Texas US
Linux Validation Development Technician Description: VOLT currently has an immediate opportunity for a Linux Validation Development Technician to work at a world leading semiconductor company in South Austin.
This is a full-time consulting position requiring an individual with expert-level knowledge of a wide range of Linux distributions; will be developing tests to validate X86 CPUs and chipsets, including documentation of procedures.
Using detailed company standard test procedures the tester will configure and execute tests across mobile, desktop and server systems.
Through the use of various internal test tools, internal software utilities or third party utilities will capture and record results/data into database and write up detailed description of failures seen.
Assigned tests must be completed in a timely fashion based off expected completion time and customer / internal roadmap deadlines.
Must be able to multi-task under high pressure situations in order to meet deadlines.
Expanded duties will require ability to make and modify scripted test procedures for both development and test execution.
Requirements: * 2 year associate degree (or equivalent) in electronics and/or computer technology and/or engineering and 4+ PC Validation/Testing experience, with good analytical and troubleshooting skills * Technical writing experience, preferably procedure documentation test development experience, for system or devices.
* PC x86 Architecture Experience - System level knowledge of memory, PC buses, processor, chipset; configure and change BIOS settings; install and configure device drivers; virtualization (VMware, Xen, Hyper-V), PC hardware setup, install and configure processors, hard drives, network cards, memory, etc. - MUST be able to read and understand motherboard schematics (be able to locate components on the motherboard, based on the schematic info) * Preferred Operating System Requirements (Install, Setup, Configure and Troubleshoot): Strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu, Fedora) Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (2008 Srv, 2003 Srv, Vista, XP) * Ability to create automated test procedures through scripting * Experience with automation utilizing C/C++, SQL, Visual Basic, Visual Studio, .NET Frameworks, Visual C#, Ruby, or Perl * Knowledge of programming languages for coding or extensive knowledge of using Bash/Shell/Batch files for test scripting purposes.
