Jr. System Administrator Job in North Little Rock, Arkansas US

The System Administrator is expected to work closely with the senior members of the System Administration Team. This includes an ability to work unsupervised on day-to-day tasks and handling various duties in many different technical areas. Areas to have a base skill set on are Microsoft products, Linux, Networking/Storage, VoIP telephony, and IT Security/Compliance. The Junior System Administrator is also expected to assist with support tickets and desktop administration as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Installing and supporting new server hardware and software infrastructureEnsuring that hardware and software systems are maintainedProviding technical support to users with very different levels of IT knowledgeAssisting Senior staff with the day-to-day management of various systemsTroubleshooting ranging from critical system outages to forgotten passwordsImplementing and monitoring security measures and standardsTraining users, sometimes one-on-one and sometimes in groups, and providing written guidelines and instructionsWorking closely with other departments/organizations to analyze requirements or solve problemsSystem maintenance and administration of internal networks and public web servicesMonitoring and reporting system performanceParticipating in projects as a technical support knowledge baseWorking closely with other teams for problem resolution and project coordinationResolving issues submitted to our support ticketing systemAssisting with Desktop Administration as neededPerforming other duties as assigned by manager or managementThe skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include: AS degree in a related field or equivalent work experienceAbout 2 years of working or studying the various technologies outlined aboveAbout 2 years of prior technical support experienceAbility to learn quickly and work unsupervised as neededStrongly developed analytical and troubleshooting skillsGood communication skills (written and oral)Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows workstation and serverKnowledge and experience with Linux, Unix, or *BSD based distributionsAn understanding of managed networks and network storage devicesA base understanding of telephony, specifically VoIPAn understanding of IT security and complianceBasic math skills including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractionsAbility to lift 50 poundsAbility to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
