Internal Auditor Job in Foothill Ranch 92610, California US
BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Internal Audit Staff contributes to the successful completion of the audit plan by assisting in financial, operational, and Sarbanes-Oxley audits and other special assignments.
The Staff is responsible for performing routine audit activities in the various phases of the audit process including fieldwork, reporting and wrap-up in accordance with established standards.
Additional responsibilities include: Assist and support the audit team in identifying, quantifying, and assessing current and evolving risks and other potential exposures to the company.
Prepare process narratives/flowcharts for business processes.
Accumulate evidence to support the audit objectives by filtering information so that the best audit evidence is identified and documented in the audit work papers.
Work in concert with the Senior Internal Auditor to design test plans and evaluate test results.
Draw initial conclusions from fieldwork for discussion with senior team members.
Consider alternatives and consequences of recommendations to enhance controls and processes.
Participate in risk and control assessment discussions with both Internal Audit and line of business management.
Continually challenge internal controls and business processes to effect positive change within the company.
Recommend revisions to audit policies, procedures, and methodologies to Internal Audit management.
Identify training opportunities for self and elevate recommendations to Internal Audit Manager.
Attend company sponsored and other training to build industry knowledge and technical capabilities.
Participates in recruiting efforts as needed.
Travel as necessary to complete assigned activities.
Perform other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
Advanced degree or certification is a plus (MBA, CPA, CISA).
Minimum two to three years of audit experience, preferably with experience in a risk based audit function with a Big 4 public accounting firm or a corporate environment.
Retail industry experience a plus.
