Infrastructure Tools Architect Job in Boston, Massachusetts US
The client is designing and constructing a new data center facility in MA. The program is to be built in phases with the full program scope set for a Tier III facility with 40,000 sq ft of computer room space.
The second center will help ensure the state's computer systems and digital assets continue to be properly secured and maintained, while providing greater operational efficiencies for the client and an economic boost for the City.
Functions: The second data center will serve to back-up the client's primary data center which houses a critical network of data systems used by thousands of state workers including police officers, social workers, and health professionals - who need immediate access to sensitive information to carry out their jobsThe second data center is a key part of strategy to manage our client's technology more effectively by consolidating the executive departments' distributed data centers into two efficiently managed facilities and become a national model for green and environmental friendly data centersThe new data center will help support economic recovery for the City with over 200 new construction jobs and up to 35 permanent jobs to operate the facilitySpecific Duties: Qualified candidates will be responsible for defining and implementing the appropriate infrastructure tools solution for the purpose of managing and automating the infrastructure frameworkWork with the other technical domain architects (this function will create the vision for what will be required to provide a solution for an integrated incident, event, and configuration framework)Create, maintain, and review all artifacts germane to this effortDevelop RFI's and RFP's based on defined specifications developed with domain architectsCollaborate with a Business Services Management Architect to develop and integrate tools with business processesWork with program manager in developing a project plan for a product lifecycleMinimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related field, or equivalent with 10 years of experience or an advanced degree with 8 years of directly related technical experienceSpecific Qualifications: Working knowledge of tools such that include but are not limited to: Tivoli, HP OpenView, Cisco Works, Peregrine, and BMCExperience at successfully managing complex IT projectsProven ability to support technical integration strategies for custom and commercial off-the-shelf products supporting diverse domain expertsProven ability to assimilate knowledge quickly in a variety of domainsStrong interpersonal skill and the ability to collaborate effectively on diverse teams (portfolio / project managers, domain experts, users, and hardware / software engineering teams) to design and deploy information systems across the enterpriseExperience and ability to communicate all phases of the systems engineering processes to foster communication with technical team and stake holdersWorking knowledge and experience with virtual environments (VMware, Xen, and Hyper-V) and SANs (EMC Symmetrix and NetApps)
