Hyperion System 9 Planning Developer Job in Hartford, Connecticut US
The Hyperion System 9 Planning Developer will have direct responsibility of managing, developing, implementing, and maintaining a large complex Hyperion System 9 Essbase, Planning, and Financial Reporting solution.
Activities and Tasks: Maintenance of currently developed Hyperion Planning and Essbase applications, including development of new functionality and processes (metadata, sub-variables, business rule and calc script development) within the applicationMaintenance of SQL based data load rulesMaintenance of an ASO reporting databaseAdd new functionality and enhancements to the deployed reporting solutionOptimize data loads and calculations within ASO and BSO Essbase architectureWork closely with business end-users to identify new functionality and requirementsDevelop and implement new user requirements in Hyperion Planning and EssbaseDevelop processes and control framework for financial systems and reporting toolsMentor others on Hyperion technologyUnder general direction, formulate and define system scope and objectivesDevise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired resultsPrepare detailed technical specifications from which programs will be writtenDesign, code, test, debug, and document those programsProvide technical leadership on complex projectsMay act as expert in business applications and/or cross functional areasRegularly provide guidance and training to less-experienced programmer/analystsThe skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include (items are required unless noted otherwise): Deep knowledge of Hyperion Essbase calc script and planning business rules developmentKnowledge of Visual Basic is a plusExpert knowledge of Hyperion Essbase, Planning, and Financial Reporting administration and configurationMust have completed at least two large Hyperion Planning implementations using project management methodologyExperience with accounting and finance and their impact on financial management and reporting tools and systemsExperience with planning and forecasting processes for a large corporation7-10 years of Hyperion Planning experienceExperience in System 9Proactive technical leadership skills with the ability to work independently and within a teamExcellent communication skills, verbal and writtenAbility to work with varying levels of business customers and IT supportAbility to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing prioritiesSolid understanding of change control and testing methodologiesTechnologies experience: Hyperion Planning, Essbase, BSO/ASO, Financial Reporting, ODI in Windows Server 2003 environment, SQL Server, and WebSphereCompetent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activitiesBachelor's degree in one of the following: Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or AccountingMBA or CPA is preferredKnowledge of Financial Systems and IT terminologies is a mustStrong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) skills
