Gov Sr Spec Software Design Job in Columbia, Maryland US
Gov Sr Spec Software Design-1020717DescriptionThis position is for a senior software designer and developer working in an agile software development engineering environment.
Qualified candidates must possess the ability to lead a team of software engineers with demonstrated experience working in an agile development environment using the Scrum framework.
Candidates must demonstrate experience working with customers, systems engineers, and other lifecycle support personnel and applying the knowledge gathered to the product under design.
Candidates are required to design, develop, test, and support innovative software solutions used to protect network environments from potential security threats, integrated with advanced commercially available hardware and software tools.
The candidate must demonstrate knowledge and experience performing unit and development integration testing.
Candidates must possess a working understanding of network and communications security and software development with requisite skills and experience as follows.
Required skills / experience: 5 to 10+ years experience in software design and development to include working in agile small team environments; Working knowledge of agile and software development methodologies required for rapid development of assigned tasking.
Demonstrable understanding and experience with unit and development integration testing techniques and skills, use of CM and change management practices in an agile development environment.
Proven ability to take on and meet commitments and adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
Desired skills: Software design and development skills using C++ and assorted scripting languages on both Microsoft OS and LINUX OS development environments.
Ability to develop unit and integration test scripts using scripting languages such as PERL, PHP, UNIX command shells, MS command scripts, and others.
UI language skills using JAVA and knowledge of databases to include MySQL and ORACLE.
Required Education: BS degree preferred in Computer Science or related discipline but not required; BA degree in a Liberal Arts program acceptable provided there is evidence of abilities commensurate with required skills and experience listed above.
Training and certifications in use of agile development methodologies.
