Financial Aid Officer - Military Planner - PHX Job in Phoenix 85040, Arizona US
Job ID: 1348Position Description: Develop, negotiate and finalize student financial plans consistent with financial planning policies and procedures and with Federal/State regulations for awarding aid. Work closely with new, continuing and re-entry students and their families to ensure the plan and re-plan continue to best meet the families needs.
Counsel students on all acceptances and other matters related directly to the student financial plan.Key Job Elements
1. Work cohesively with ADAs or Admissions Coordinators in order to facilitate outstanding service to prospective students and their parents.
2. Maintain 100% Planning Load.
Create Plans and explain the Plan and the students/parents rights and responsibilities for each aid source.
Negotiate Payment Plans.
Able to develop Student Financial Plans in concert with Institute procedures and knowledge of Federal regulations.
3. Assist students/parents with the completion of the FAFSA.
Enter the FAFSA electronically and review the resulting ISIR.
4. Assign the appropriate budget to a student and package the student (award their aid).
5. Ensure that aid is paid to students accounts in a timely manner.
6. Responsible for complete and accurate files and paperwork.
7. Certify loan applications.
8. Complete Basic Verification/QA and C Code Requirements.
9. Utilize reports as appropriate to job duties.
10. Strong Customer Service Component as described in the Planner Productivity Report.
11. Demonstrate proficiency in timely collections: -80% aid paid consistently by end of 5th week of term and 90% by end of 8th week of term.
12. Maintain consistently clean files shown through Training Assessments for Compliance with Federal/State regulations, school policies and procedures.
-Less than a 10% comment rate per term and less than a 5% potential liability rate for the year.
13. Complete the appropriate training modules within 30 days of the new or revised module becoming available.
Assist with or perform special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
1. Previous experience working with and technical knowledge of student financial aid or other commercial loans preferred.
2. High comfort level within a computerized environment.
3. Ability to make small group presentations as well as skill in interacting on a one on one basis.
Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Supervised by: Associate Director of Student Financial ServicesInteracts with: All members of the SFS team, Admissions, Registrar, Accounting and CS-SFSThis position reports to the Director of Student Financial Services.
Internal contacts include staff from the following school departments including, but not limited to, Admissions, Student Accounting, Registrar, etc. External contacts include initial contact with all incoming students/parents and auditors.
