Facilities / Transport Engineer Job in Schaumburg, Illinois US
We are looking for an experienced Facilities or Transport Engineer.
The selected candidate will work a project to investigate our client's current Direct Telecom expenses and look for opportunities to reduce spending.
They will also implement projects to support expense savings efforts.
Facilities / Transport Engineer Qualifications: Minimum 3 years (preferably 5 years) of work experience with a Telecom carrier or Wireless carrier in a circuit design; planning, ordering, and provisioning roleExperience within a wireless network position is a plusCandidates must have work experience in the following topics: Circuit ordering experience with major LECs (AT/T, etc.)Understanding of various circuit formats; DS-1, DS-3, OC-3/12/48/192, and Sonnet servicesStrong XNG (Granite) Database experience including knowledge with building circuits, paths, and elementsInterconnect Transport design experience (have an understanding with diverse routing, sonnet protection, capacity sizing, and least cost routing)Previous experience coordinating circuit ordering, testing and turn-up directly with other groups and telecommunication vendorsPrevious exposure with billing and invoicingAdditional experience that would be a plus: Understanding of Microwave network design and circuit planningFamiliar with Ethernet back-haul for transportExperience with developing and reviewing Methods of Procedure (MOPs)The selected candidate must have the following work ethics and skills: Able to perform Facilities / Transport Engineering with minimal training and guidanceSolid analytic and decision making skillsClear verbal with written communication skillsProject management skillsCapable of working independentlyHigh level of competency with computers including software programs such as Microsoft OutlookAdvanced skills with Microsoft Excel
