Engineering Services Manager Job in Waltham 02451, Massachusetts US
The Engineering Services Manager is a thought-driven leader responsible for the delivery of internal projects and infrastructure supporting the Phase Forward Engineering organization.
The individual will work closely with the Engineering leadership and interface with cross-organizational teams to define and deliver projects, processes and systems that accelerate delivery of outstanding quality products.
The Engineering Services Manager works independently to provide hands-on technical and project leadership to mentor team members and align organizational goals with career development goals.
Responsibilities: Define requirements and drive implementation of key engineering projects with internal resources, contractors and third-party vendorsChampion new approaches to accelerate software product development lifecycleEffectively track and forecast capital budget and software licensesOversee and support a large and dynamic server infrastructure based upon VMware and Microsoft technologies supporting the development and testing of Phase Forward's productsManage and coordinate the prioritization of workloads, scheduling of timelines, and communication of information between the development and test teams.
Effectively communicate status, priorities, and information Work with development teams in defining, scoping, and provisioning the strategy of all software and hardware requirements for development, testing, and deployment of productsLiaise with the IT and Production Hosting organization to establish service level agreements and manage interoperability of system and network components between the development environment, corporate network, and production hosting environment.
Architect and lead the build-out of engineering infrastructure including quality management, source code & lab management systemsLead the effort to enhance & deliver defect, code and test metrics to measure R&D performanceQualifications: BS/BA degree in computer science or related fields, or equivalent experience.
6+ years of hands-on IT experience related to systems engineering and/or product development 3+ years direct experience in technical management including systems management concepts, processes, standards; capacity/performance management and tuningDemonstrated success implementing organization-wide systems to drive process improvementStrong understanding of product release lifecycleProven operations and engineering support skills and experienceDemonstrable skills and applicable experience with the following technologies: Systems: Microsoft Operating Systems (2003, XP), x86 Hardware (HP), Virtualization (VMware ESX and Workstation), SAN technologies (EMC Clariion, iSCSI)Networks: Microsoft networking components (DNS, DHC), Active Directory, Networking fundamentalsKnowledge and experience in scripting (PERL, VB Script, PowerShell, etc) a plusExcellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skillsStrong understanding of software development lifecycle
