Editorial Assistant for DMN Problem SolverThe Dallas Morning News has an opening for a part-time editorial assistant who will work 20 hours a week.
The editorial assistant will help the Problem Solver columnist by answering reader mail, e-mails and voice mailreturn calls to readers and gather basic information about their problemstranscribe calls and update a reader databasehelp the Problem Solver columnist prioritize which problems to address first, urgency or typehave the opportunity to use or learn reporting techniques and file Freedom of Information requestswork in a fast-paced news environment and act at all times as a good ambassador for The Dallas Morning News when dealing with the publicCandidates should have strong written and oral communication skills,experience and proficiency in working with databases and online research tools, as well as some flexibility in their work schedules.
The winning candidate will also have great people skills, including an ability to work well with a variety of personalities, from experienced journalists and politicians to average readers seeking a solution to their problems.
