The employees' primary responsibility is the performance of various echocardiographic tests as described.

The employee may be assigned to performance of 2-D M-mode and cardiac Doppler, stress tests, EKGs, Holters and Event Monitors exercise echo and TEE procedures, as well as billing/clerical duties where assigned by the Manager of Cardiovascular Service or Technical Supervisor.

Assists in preparation of contrast studies.

The majority of tests are scheduled; emergent testing is occasionally required.

Provides after hour and weekend coverage on a rotational basis.

Requires a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Minimum two years college or training at an approved school of Cardiovascular Technology.

AA degree from a school of Cardiovascular Technology preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Certification from Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) preferred.

RCS or RCDS strongly preferred after 3 year's experience.

Minimum 1 year experience as a Cardiology technician in Cardiac and/or Echocardiography.

Experience performing Treadmill, Holter and SAECG studies preferred.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, pathophysiology, electrophysiology, and congenital anatomies.

Knowledge of digitized computer system used for stress echo.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of cardiovascular ultrasound techniques and modalities.

Demonstrates expertise in echocardiographic techniques and modalities.
