A premier software solution provider for energy trading, logistics and risk management in the global crude oil, refined products and energy derivatives marketplace is growing and is adding Functional Analysts to their Houston staff.

A Functional Analyst plays a key role in understanding, analyzing, communicating, and validating the requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems.

They understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.

Functional Analysts have the subject matter expertise to ensure that the final product will adhere to industry and company standards.

They work through the lifecycle of product development to ensure that the final product is built per specifications.The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, product management, development & testing staff.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, technical, problem solving, and decision making skills.

Must be a self-starter, team oriented, organized, adaptable and work with minimal supervision.

ACCOUNTABILITY
Provision of deep subject matter expertise to Development and Professional Services.


Production of detailed Functional Specifications, including business rules, process flow, data flow, and usability analysis
Defining and approving test plans to prove the product fulfills the business need and specifications
Determining the impact of enhancements/changes on existing Products
Making strategic decisions on application layout and flow within the scope defined by Product Management.


Identify functional gaps by reviewing technical designs.

RESPONSIBILITY: · Interact with the BAs/customers to know their requirements · Responsible for performing impact analysis · Interact with designers to convey the possible interface of the software · Interact/guide the coders/developers to keep track of system development · Provide detailed documents of How to Implement the new system.

· Prepare High quality Documentation · Maintain Traceability matrix starting from requirement Functional specifications Technical specs· Perform system testing with sample/live data with the help of testers · Complete checklist to indicate all requirements are met in the traceability matrix.

· Create functional architecture for processes and approaches based on deep subject matter expertise in our market.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREDEssential1.

8-10 years of experience as an business/system analyst2.

Ability to understand application level issues from high level to determine the impact to the solution and end user3 Strong communication, analytical and organizational skill

4. Ability to assimilate varied pieces of information and translate into a comprehensive system design or enhancement which solves current business problems yet addresses future or more global system needs5 Pro active self-starter with outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.

6. This position involves a high level of responsibility and ownership.

Self-motivation, team orientation and possession of a strong sense of accountability are required7 Exhibit effective time management skills with appropriate prioritization8.

Experience with documented software development methodology and understanding stages of software development project life cycle.An advantage: Hands on experience with energy trading business, specifically Logistics, Scheduling (physical) experience with waterborne and/or pipelines OR Risk (VaR, Credit, etc.).Previous experience with customer relationship managementExperience leading and driving projects including overseas team in India.
