ENVIRONMENTAL ATTORNEY Job in Diamond Bar 91765, California US
South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), headquartered in Diamond Bar, CA, 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, is one of the largest and most technologically sophisticated environmental regulatory agencies in the nation.
The work we do affects the quality of life of over 17 million people living in four Southern California counties.
As lawyers for one of the largest and most innovative environmental agencies in the nation, our attorneys face some of the most challenging, cutting-edge legal issues in the field! We are seeking exceptional, motivated candidates for two current vacancies in our Legal Office: one in District Counsel's Office and one in District Prosecutor's Office.
For this recruitment, we are considering both entry and experienced candidates.
Attorneys in our District Counsel's Office provide advice to AQMD Governing Board Members and staff on all legal matters not related to enforcement of AQMD rules.
They also review and assist in drafting regulations, environmental documents, and proposed legislation.
In addition, District Counsel attorneys provide advice on interpretation of AQMD rules and State and federal laws governing AQMD authorities and procedures.
Attorneys in our District Prosecutor's Office prepare and litigate cases against violators of AQMD regulations, negotiate settlement agreements, represent AQMD on all matters involving enforcement and civil penalty litigation, represent AQMD before a variety of special boards and governing bodies, and provide advice to AQMD staff on a wide range of enforcement issues and policies.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SALARY/BENEFITS: $6,163 - $11,462 per month, DOQ, plus an excellent benefits package, retirement program, deferred compensation with a dollar-for-dollar match and a 4/10 work schedule.
AQMDs headquarters building has an on-site fitness center, cafeteria, and childcare center.

REQUIREMENTS: Active membership in the State Bar Association of California and admission to practice law in all courts of California, plus directly related experience as spelled out in the job announcement.
No experience is required at the Deputy I level.
