ENGINEER - MANUFACTURING Job in Garner , Iowa US

Description SUMMARY The Manufacturing Engineer's main responsibility is to design, implement, monitor and maintain manufacturing processes in an effort to achieve the most efficient, cost effective and high quality production possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE
1. Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant.
2. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
3. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
4. Purchases equipment that meets company needs and cost requirements.
5. Recommend process and system upgrades to reduce labor, handling and other manufacturing functions.
6. Develop and maintain various processes for reporting savings and defect.
7. Respond to customer issues and concerns.
8. Organize, plan and help to maintain production.
9. Help to improving existing operations, incorporating new methods and processes.
10. Investigate operational problems affecting production.
11. Work with Engineering and other departments to produce cost estimates for new designs and production flow.
12. Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
13. Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processe
14. Perform other related duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology or related field required.
Minimum four (4) years manufacturing practical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • ERP and MRP training and experience in new product development preferred.
• Environmental and Safety background as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office software data base software desired.
• Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of tasks as directed.
• Understanding and acceptance of Lean Principles • Detail-oriented and accurate.
• Self-assured in decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Leadership ability desired.
• Working knowledge of basic computer software including ERP software and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to climb stairs on a frequent basis.
• Some walking required.
