Director of Washington Operations Job in Washington, District of Columbia US
Responsibilities BASIC FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director, Washington Operations will be the Laboratory¿s senior manager in the DC office, and will be directly responsible for the development of the Laboratory¿s business in Geospatial Systems.
The Director will manage talented, multidisciplinary, program management and engineering teams to meet business development and program schedule, cost, and technical objectives.
The Director will also coordinate the Laboratory¿s broader business development activities in the DC area and will lead a team of DC-based business developers reporting to the home office whose target sponsors include: DARPA, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Intelligence Community and NASA.
The Director will establish business development plans, and lead brainstorming activities with engineering staff in Cambridge and Washington for the future development of programs.
The Director will work closely with sponsors to identify unmet needs and lead the laboratory¿s staff to develop novel system and component concepts, capture development funds to demonstrate prototype capabilities, and oversee the management of the resulting design and development programs.
The Director will also justify and defend bid and no-bid decisions to Laboratory senior management, lead proposal efforts for $1-15M proposals including the development of work statements, schedules, budgets, and coordination/evaluation of proposal inputs from the engineering staff.
Qualifications EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be a demonstrated self-motivator, business developer and strategic thinker with the technical breath necessary to apply cutting edge technologies in novel applications; an innovator who possesses excellent presentation and communication skills; have experience working with sponsors across a wide variety of government agencies (particularly those noted above), and a recent TS/SBI clearance.
The successful candidate should also have a track record of business development success in the immediate past, at least 10 years of engineering experience in positions of increasing responsibility and breath, and have a solid engineering experience or education in one or more of the following disciplines: EM, EO, RF and communication systems, geospatial, GPS, Signal Processing, and Image Exploitation.
