Description: Kaplan University is looking for a results driven Director of Business Development to work within our School of Nursing to development new external partnerships with hospital organizations out of our Chicago office (possible remote work options).
The School of Nursing is looking to obtain partnership contracts with hospital and healthcare organizations and systems to increase the number of starts in the Kaplan School of Nursing online programs.
The Director of Business Development will research, identify, and negotiate partnership contracts with hospital organizations and systems to increase the educational credentials of employees at the partner organization.
Once contracts are signed, the Director of Business Development will assist with the maintenance of these partnerships.
Primary Responsibilities Include: Develop a lead base and establish a partner pipeline by individual research and using leads obtained through research performed by the Manager of Business Relationships and the Strategic Alliance Organization.
Contact the targets and leads from the established data base and partner pipeline to develop a business relationship and discuss the opportunity to provide Kaplan nursing educational programs to organization employees.
Negotiate a contract with the targeted organization and the School of Nursing to provide online nursing educational programs for the employees of the organization.
Meet established goals for number of partnership contracts required to be signed during a calendar year.
Contact individuals and organizations to leverage key relationships, contacts and networks that the individual has developed during a nursing career, add these organizations to the partner pipeline and lead base, and sign partnership contracts with these organizations.
Travel to meet with potential individuals from organizations that have been targeted and are part of the lead base and partnership pipeline and with the Strategic Development Team as requested and determined by the Vice President Strategic Planning.
Travel will not be more than 40% of the time.
Function as a member of the Strategic Development Team with the Vice President Strategic Development and the Manager of Business Relationships.
Breakdown of Responsibilities: Develop, define, negotiate, and close business partnerships and relationships 50%Leverage key relationships and contacts and networks to meet goals 20%Establish a partner pipeline with hospitals and healthcare systems 15%Identify and manage business relationships and partnerships 10%Other duties as assigned 5%Qualifications: Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or Master's level degree in the field of nursing.
Looking for 7+ years of related practical experience within nursing education and business development.
Experience building and maintaining strategic marketing and selling relationships with senior level executives in hospitals and healthcare companies requiredProven track record of achieving established goalsExperience working with senior level executives in a corporate environmentDemonstrated ability to think strategically with a thorough understanding of strategic developmentDemonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accountsStrong partnership development skills including negotiationExcellent verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasivelyGood computer skills and knowledge of data base programs (PowerPoint, Excel and Word, Outlook)Highly self-motivated and able to work productively in an unstructured environment,Strong operational mindset, decisive, high energy, positive and professional approach, "can-do" attitude, flexible with attention to detail.
Along with strong interpersonal skills, able to influence others without formal authority.
