IOM Export Compliance Director, Americas Location: Foxboro, MA, Plano, TX, or Lake Forest, CA. Other North America locations near major Invensys office will be considered.

Job Summary & Responsibilities This position is responsible for ensuring that Invensys Operations Management's (IOM) business is transacted in compliance with all applicable trade compliance regulations in North and South America, as well as the policy and procedures issued by the Invensys Trade Compliance Department (ITCD).

This position requires an energetic, take-charge person with a strong background in export compliance, and with particular experience in nuclear controls.

It requires leadership to drive process improvements in key risk areas and to provide oversight and technical guidance to the business's functional leaders to ensure proper implementation of trade compliance processes.

Position will interface with ITCD, trade compliance coordinators, freight forwarders, order management service, business and corporate management, internal/external legal counsel, customers, suppliers, and government agencies.

Additional responsibilities include: · Develop uniform standards and procedures for IOM businesses, dove-tailing ITCD procedures.

Assist businesses and other functional areas in developing and implementing processes, procedures, and systems that ensure compliance.

Specific areas include automating export compliance tools/processes (e.

g., checklists for restricted party and end-use screening) and deemed export compliance.

· Serve as the lead technical resource for IOM: Interpret relevant customs and export control regulations and provide guidance to businesses accordingly.

· Provide training and guidance on export classification and licensing.

· Prepare export license applications for products and technical data, including DOE Part 810 authorizations, when necessary; manage all licenses received and ensure that related reports are timely submitted.

· Advise on licensing and other export control requirements with regard to various business development and logistics activities, especially in the area of nuclear business.

· Review quotes, proposals, and contracts as required, advising on trade compliance implications of proposed language.

· Review potential boycott language in contracts and other documents for permissibility and reporting requirements; prepare IOM's anti-boycott reports.

· Ensure that export filings (e.

g., Automated Export System) are made accurately and that appropriate records are maintained.

· Support ITCD strategic plan and key initiatives, including development of Invensys export policies and procedures.

· Develop and deliver relevant training, through a variety of formats.

· Serve as IOM's single escalation point for trade compliance issues and key liaison with government authorities.

· Participate in internal and external compliance reviews.

· Assist with the investigation of suspected violations of trade compliance laws or related company policies, preparation of disclosures when necessary, and development of remedial measures.

· Any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervision Reports to the Invensys VP, Trade Compliance with strong dotted lines to the IOM VP & General Counsel and to the IOM VP, Global Supply Chain & Manufacturing.

Works independently from broad general guidelines, receiving detailed direction for specific initiatives and long range strategic objectives.

Education Under-graduate degree required; advanced degree in business, law, or government affairs preferred Experience Eight or more years direct export compliance experience in a major corporation, consulting company, or law firm Skills & Abilities - Proficiency in English required; Spanish or Portugese is a plus - Proven skills in interpreting and implementing government rules and regulations.

- Experience in drafting formal correspondence with government agencies.

- Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with businesses, and to assist businesses in implementing those improvements.

- Experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training.

- Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and cross-cultural awareness; able to build strong relationships and influence others across a globally matrixed organization.

- Detail oriented, possessing good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.

- A strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (eg contributor, facilitator).

- Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.

- Experience with trade controls in multiple countries within the Americas is preferred.

- Product familiarity is preferred.

- Proven use of Six-Sigma tools to drive process improvements is preferred.

Additional Information: Travel Percentage: 25%
