Database Administrator Job in South Holland 60473, Illinois US
Database AdministratorPosition Description: Performs all aspects of data and database administration including hardware and software evaluation and installation; management of the ERP, WMS, and Accounting applications; management of ERP, WMS, and accounting reporting including auditing data for accuracy and change documentation; data security administration; performance and tuning of data access and storage; research and evaluation of new tools and techniques; and development of policies, standards and procedures related to the database environment.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Develops, revises and implements policies, standards, procedures and guidelines necessary to effectively administer the database environment for a manufacturing company2.
Plans and conducts structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performanc
3. Performs routine and customary operational and monitoring activities to ensure the database environment is stable and capable of meeting ongoing business needs4.
Establishes policies and procedures pertaining to management, security, maintenance and utilization of organizational data and implements these throughout the organization5 Advises management on database concepts and functional capabilities applying knowledge of database design standards and database management systems6.
Identifies and resolves application problems related to the use of database management system software or utilities7.
Analyzes existing data handling systems and develop new systems to enhance data flow efficiency8.
Implements security and backup procedures to maintain integrity of data9.
Oversees database integration with other software/hardware applications10.
Evaluates and analyze existing or proposed requirements for business, statistical, technical or scientific data problems and identify programming solutions to process data11.
Prepares program specifications, diagrams, coding logic flow charts and other documentation12.
Performs other duties as assigned Requirements
1. Bachelors degree in Business Information Systems or equivalent degree2.
3 5 years SQL Server database administration3.
1 3 years financial/accounting experience4.
Experience in a manufacturing environment using ERP systems5.
Knowledgeable of MS SQL Server environment and query tools, database programming, report writing with Business Objects (Crystal Reports), and documentation and auditing of the reporting process6.
Knowledgeable of Info ERP Adage preferred, WMS (warehouse management systems), Coolearth Whistle preferred, and familiarity with front end tools7.
Knowledge and familiarity with MS SQL Server backup and recovery strategies, and performance and tuning techniques8.
Knowledge and experience with relational and conventional database technology, data modeling concepts, tools and techniques, and general business operations Competencies
