Creative Financial Staffing - Dealership Controller Job in Minneapolis, Minnesota US
We are looking for an honest and hard-working business professional to fill this key position for our dealership client located west of the Twin Cities.
General Position DescriptionThis is the top-level financial position in the dealership and requires substantial knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and procedures.
This person will be responsible for supervising the work of accounting personnel, and overseeing the preparation of financial statements, budgets, projections and forecasts.
Daily work is performed independently and is subject to review by ownership and audit by external certified public accountants.
The ability to interact positively with non-financial personnel, understand their needs, and then create and interpret financial reports to assist them in their work is a required skill.
The person will represent the dealership to the external financial community and superior verbal and written communication skills are a requirement.
Specific Responsibilities · Uphold the accounting policies, practices and standards of the dealership and supervise the maintenance of all books recording dealership assets, liabilities, and ownership investments· Interpret financial information and report the financial condition of the dealership to the owners on a regular basis· Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and provide sales and expense analysis summarizing opportunities for improved profitability · Prepare and complete financial statements and other operating reports on a monthly and annual basis· Review the general ledger and scheduled accounts· Maintain effective cash management system · Ensure all manufacturer accounts are current and rebates are obtained· Obtain and maintain appropriate insurance policies· Oversee human resources and employee benefit administration· Supervise compliance with all taxing authority regulations· Supervise compliance with Department of Motor Vehicle regulations· Maintains relationships with outside parties, including financing institutions and auditors· Other duties as assigned Requirements· Minimum of 7 years experience in accounting, preferably with some exposure to dealerships· Computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word.
Knowledge of Reynolds and Reynolds software a huge plus.
· BA or BS in Accounting or Finance preferred, CPA preferred.
