Counsel, Labor & Employment Job in Atlant 30309, Georgia US
Make recommendations on all employment matters, including terminations, harassment, discrimination, wage issues, and state and federal labor compliance Handle employee relations issues and recommend solutions Partner with Human Resource team in educating employees on all employment and labor issues Manage outside counsel on various employment and benefit issues Support resolution of EEOC, state, and local agency claims and charges Review, interpret, and make recommendations on company policies and procedures Manage outside counsels handling of various employment and benefit issues Participate in mediations and hearings regarding employment issues Assist in managing litigation and settlement negotiations Work with Human Resources in managing the Companys compensation and stock option plans Assist in developing general legal and business strategy and in counseling the Companys Executive Committee and Board of DirectorsExperience and Skills: Ability to prioritize and manage effectively a large variety and number of matters Knowledge and ability to keep oneself abreast of all applicable laws and regulations, as well as industry leading practices and trends Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills Ability to persuade, influence and build consensus among all parties Well developed presentation skills needed to present to senior level executives Ability to operate well autonomously and be self-sufficient 8+ years of legal experience focusing primarily employment and benefit compliance matters; experience practicing in-house preferred; retail field experience a plus JD from a top ABA accredited law school with strong academic recordKeywords: attorney, employment and labor attorney
