For additional information please view our website at http://fraunhofer-cse.org  About the Position: The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is looking for a Controls Engineer to join its Building Energy Efficiency Group. This is an opportunity to work with one of the world’s leading research groups to develop, model, test, and evaluate cutting-edge building efficiency solutions for a wide variety of clients. You'll be a key part of a dynamic team that shares a commitment to engineering excellence, combined with an excitement about sustainable energy technology. Principal Responsibilities: ·         Develop robust control algorithms for in-home control of energy-consuming, storing and generating equipment and systems to save energy while minimizing occupant annoyance and inconvenience. ·         Develop diagnostic algorithms to identify energy-wasting equipment, system performance and occupant-wasting behaviors.·         Program in-home or remote controllers to automate control of energy consuming equipment to reduce household energy consumption.  Required Experience and Education: ·         Experience with a wide range of diagnostic approaches (expert systems, fuzzy logic, neural networks, heuristic rules-based, etc.) and adaptive control algorithms.  ·         Hardware selection and configuration experience needed, as well as experience with ladder diagrams and control strategy. ·         Experience with control systems that are both PC based and on embedded systems using PLC.·         Prior work on complex systems for the building, industrial, automotive or multi physics industries needed.·         Experience with database systems, including set-up, operation, and maintenance.·         Minimum B.S. degree in EE, ME, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or  other appropriate engineering discipline   Keywords: Control systems, appliances, HVAC, modeling, algorithms, home automation, home energy management For priority consideration, please send your resume, cover letter and salary requirements.  Fraunhofer CSE is an equal employment opportunity employer.
