Consultant Software Engineer - Product Architect, Lead Virtualization Job in Hopkinton, Massachusetts US
Job Description Lead Product Architect - Drive business/technical vision and development of Virtualization & Cloud computing effortEMC is forming a new advanced products engineering team that will produce a software offering that delivers a storage infrastructure platform for the emerging Virtualized computing and Cloud computing ecosystems.
This platform will be produced using both EMC assets and Open Source assets, and it will also leverage industry-leading virtualization platform elements (VMWare/Hyper-V).
We are seeking talented motivated engineering thought leaders to help EMC drive this effort and to be part of today's transformation to Virtualized computing and Cloud computing environments.
Responsibilities · Provide technical leadership for a team of software engineers · Conceptualize and initiate solutions to complex problems and identify business impact of these solutions · Develop and share an understanding of business context and competitive environment · Serve as an expert in software development processes, practices, procedures and tools providing immediate value and contribution to project results Skills and Experience · Broad knowledge of SuSE Linux and Windows Hyper-V architecture · Expert knowledge on and direct development experience with storage and networking I/O stack architectures within Linux and Windows Hyper-V · Experience developing system-level solutions within v irtualized environments (Windows Hyper-V and VMware) · Experience with one or more of the following: iSCSI, RAID, data protection, file systems · Proven complex problem solving skills · Technical leadership ability and experience · Ability to effectively work with and lead a team and to influence others · Comfortable working in a highly distributed international environment · Experience utilizing contemporary software engineering practices · Demonstrate a track record of meeting timelines and managing project expectations · Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, are required for interaction with team members, senior members of the staff and other organizations Education/Experience · BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or closely related field · 10, 8, or 6 years relevant experience, depending on degrees held EMC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and values the strength that diversity brings to the workplace EMC does not accept unsolicited Agency resumes.
