Commodity Manager Job in Frederick/Hagerstown, Maryland US
SUMMARYCOMMODITY MANAGER - ELECTRICALResponsible for the most cost effective use of company funds to procure assignedmaterials and services.
This includes managing the supply chain throughsupporting servicing the material and informational requirement of JLG to meetboth short and long range objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may beassigned.
Select sources and assure timely delivery of quality material to the point ofuse to support production requirements.
Develop, recommend and coordinate purchasing objectives, including costreduction, new and existing source development, on-time delivery, improvedquality, enhanced vendor services and improved supplier interest in JLG'sbusiness.
Research markets to uncover new sources to stimulate competition and bringforward new technology as well as innovative products.
Negotiate and administer contracts most favorable to JLG, assuring appropriatedocumentation within legal, ethical and JLG standards.
Maintain appropriate records of communication with suppliers regardingcommitments of price and delivery.
Obtain quotations as a basis for negotiating contracts.
Manage and be cognitive of all communication between JLG and suppliers ofassigned commodities.
Assure that all purchases comply with approvals defined in JLG policies.
Maintain a professional "arms length" business relationship withsuppliers.
Resolve discrepancies and disputes regarding invoices, quality and delivery in atimely cost effective manner.
Work effectively with all other JLG people toassure compliance with the company mission.
Negotiate and assure the timely return and/or sale of discrepant, obsolete orexcess material.
Conduct all business within company policies and procedures.Set standard costs of assigned commodities in compliance with the methods and/orguidelines developed by the Controller.
Maintain a current knowledge of purchasing as well as assigned commodities.
Accomplish projects assigned by the Director of Purchasing.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS [SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES]Reports to Director of Purchasing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor of Science in Business Administration or Engineering and/or 6-10 yearsof purchasing experience.
Thorough knowledge of purchasing policies andprocedures and internal sound business controls is needed.
Must have commodityexperience in an allied industry and in a production shop utilizing MRP II.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is preferable.
