Buyer Specialist Job in North Amityville, New York US
Work Location: North AmityvilleShifts: Not ApplicablePositions Available: 1Position Summary Under general direction of the Department Manager/Buyer, responsible for providing specialized support to the buying function in order to achieve service level and inventory objectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for obtaining materials/goods from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
Researches system forecasts based on historical demand or new customer requirements.
Acts as an advocate for AmerisourceBergen interests relative to suppliers’ actions and policies.
Tests recommended solutions to various tactical challenges ABC faces as it relates to procuring product, supplier and distribution center relations.
Maintains relationships with Suppliers and Distribution Centers to achieve and maintain the established Service Level objective; supports special Customer Accounts.
Researches pricing issues and reconciling invoice discrepancies while working in conjunction with Suppliers, Accounting, Accounts Payable and the Distribution Centers.
Contributes to the management of inventory levels by assisting with the maintenance of service levels.
Researches profit enhancing opportunities such as deals, rebates, allowances, new item purchases and promotional activities for the assigned suppliers.
Manages several contracts, programs and supplier agreements resulting in increased value for both AmerisourceBergen and its customers.
Applies basic skills and procedures to standardized duties and tasks to help maintain contracts, programs and supplier agreements.
Contacts suppliers to expedite outstanding purchase orders, when needed.
Take immediate action on recall notifications to identify recall level and productsEnter required recall data into JDE system.
Based on level of recall run recall report.
Create Customer Recall letter and mail merge, then follow SOP for distributionFill in and send to vendor all required data informationDistribute required recall data to internal departments and save to shared filesPerforms related duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accounting, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor’s degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education; normally requires one (1) to two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.
