Position Description: Job Purpose: The Benefits Data Specialist is responsible for optimizing the use of Tractor Supply Companys HRIS and computer software tools for effective and accurate administration of company group benefit plans and programs, and compliance.

The Benefits Data Specialist also applies intermediate level knowledge of employee group benefits to accomplish project work and company objectives.

Primary Duties:
Responsible for the administrative processes for the 401(k) Retirement Plan, including biweekly remittances, monitoring loan reports and hardship withdrawal suspensions, auditing and loading interface files, data scrubs, and responding to requests for information from third party administrators.


Reviews annual contribution amounts of 401(k) participants to identify individuals who are likely to reach maximum deferral limits.

Provides information advising them of optimum biweekly deferral election in order to maximize company matching contributions.


Responsible for overseeing COBRA administration and compliance for the company, including but not limited to reporting to TPA all COBRA eligibles, project manage open enrollment for COBRA participants, monitor and report ARRA subsidy for 941 filing, deposit and reconcile monthly premiums and administration fees, monitor COBRA notifications and COCC on a monthly basis, and provide customer service for all participants.


Report, analyze and execute filings for Vermont Catamount Healthcare Program, Massachusetts Fair Share Contribution Program, Annual CMS filing and all IRS survey information that may be required of the company concerning FTE, position status and benefit enrollment.


Facilitates bi-weekly flexible spending account reconciliation process and works with TPA to complete annual FSA discrimination testing process.


Data resource for audit inquiries such as Sarbanes Oxley, Internal Audit, etc.
Provides customer service to team members and store managers regarding general human resources and benefits information.


Develops and maintains report library in ADP Reporting system for purpose of data management and benefit plans administration.


Specializes in data comparisons using Excel and Access databases to ensure integrity between Tractor Supply Companys internal HRIS records and third party administrators, record keepers, and insurance carriers.

Assists with data validation.


Project leader for various HR/Benefits projects.

This would include creating timelines, coordination of materials or vendors, frequent communication with the Benefits Team about status of the project, resolution of problems, and finalization and success of the project.

Secondary Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

CEBS coursework or other benefits specific training/experience helpful.

Essential Skills:
Advanced knowledge and application of Microsoft Office including: Excel, Access, and Word.


HRIS database knowledge and reporting and experience required.

ADP Enterprise, Health and Welfare Service Engine, or ADP reporting experience preferred.


Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion.


Strong organizational, communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.


Ability to self motivate, work with a sense of urgency, and to prioritize tasks.


Ability to handle conflict.


Capable of working in a cross functional environment.


Broad scope of knowledge regarding benefit plan regulations and compliance requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Individuals in this position will encounter ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional, office equipment as found in any typical office environment.

Individuals may need to sit at a desk or table for long periods of time; to speak clearly and carefully listen to customers; to reach over shoulder heights; crouch or stoop below the waist; repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; and lifting as required to file documents or store materials during the workday.
