Assessing Clerk Job in 49684
ASSESSING CLERK (Irregular Part-Time) The City Assessor for the City of Traverse City is seeking a qualified Assessing Clerk to work no more than twenty-four (24) hours per week.
The Assessing Clerk provides general office support, with emphasis on positive public/customer relations, the utilization of standard computer spreadsheet and word processing software packages, and assessment software (BS&A) data entry and basic reports.
Duties to include reading and understanding property descriptions, maps and property record cards.
Ability to appraise and assess real and/or personal property for assessing and tax purposes, calculate fair market value and sales and/or appraisal ratios of properties, examine complaints and settle disputes related to appraisals, and maintain records.
Responsible for initial determination and categorization of sales, splits, uncapping, P.RE (homestead) eligibility and basic review of Personal Property Statements.
May also be required to assist other assessment personnel in conducting field examination of residential properties and Personal Property surveys.
Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year of related experience.
State of Michigan Assessor Level I certification.
(Completion of Michigan Certified Assessing Officer Certification within one (1) year of start of service.
) Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Residency requirement: 20-mile radius from nearest City limit.
Starting wage - $15.
30 per hour.
