Position: Application EngineerLocation: CAExperience: 5+ yearsEducation: BS Company is looking for a Sr. Applications Engineer who can apply their expertise in digital logic and firmware programming to help develop solutions for next generation Fiber Optic Transceiver products.
Your daily activities will include working with the R&D, manufacturing and marketing teams to bring cutting-edge Fiber Optic products to market.
You will be a key contributor to companys next generation transceiver product developments with the goal to ensure smooth customer qualification and system interoperation.
You will interact with factory and customer development engineers, evaluate generate design and market collateral, and help drive new product traction.
This is a fast paced, visible position, which has direct impact on product development execution and division revenue.
Responsibilities: Solve high impact system/application engineering issues through digital simulation, embedded system and firmware testing.
Advise digital designers on, and help to verify, fiber optic module connectivity, software interoperation, and application specific requirements.
Quickly understand and modify transceiver control firmware to identify and debug system interoperability issues that arise during product development and/or customer qualification.
Participate in various phases of pre/post-sales and product development processes, including: rapid-prototyping, hardware bring up, performance analysis, firmware debug, system/component interoperation, outbound technical documentation, programming tools.
Qualifications Minimum of a BS degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software EngineeringMore than 5 years related industry experienceStrong understanding of digital logic hardware and firmware development, verification test methods, and in-system debug.
Strong understanding of embedded systems, 8 and 16 bit microcontrollersGood understanding of digital bus/communication protocols (Atmel or Phillips I2C and MDIO) Proficient in C/C++ programming language; developing/working with low level custom driversExperience developing evaluation tools and/or GUI's using Visual Basic, TCL, or Perl programming languages Demonstrated ability to dynamically prioritize assignments and work independentlyUnderstanding of electronic circuits and associated test tools as it relates to hardware bus interface and digital logic timing.
