Role Summary/Purpose The Acoustic Engineer will work within a committed, energized, multidiscipline engineering team, based in Louisville Kentucky, to develop industry leading acoustic and sound quality levels across all of our dishwasher products.

This role will be heavily involved in the initial mechanical, control and material selection of new dishwasher product designs with an emphasis on noise reduction and improved noise quality.

The Acoustic Engineer will also map a Competitive Acoustics Landscape with an emphasis on future design improvements.

Essential Responsibilities -Install, qualify and maintain modern acoustics equipment in an existing reverberation room -Prioritize, schedule and organize qualitative and quantitative sound testing.

-Correlate sound power measurements with an existing on site lab -Tailor sound packs, mechanical designs and control algorithms through holography -Improve and maintain acoustic performance of existing products through cost out and model line changes.

-Participate with systems engineering, product management and senior consulting engineering in setting acoustic specifications and strategic technical direction.

-Understand and report qualitative noise quality through sound panels and human factors research.

-Work openly within an advanced core development team on all aspects of the product design with an emphasis on acoustics.

-Use predictive tools to identify resonance frequencies and mode shapes of parts and subsystems.

-Research and teach useful acoustic concepts, standards and tools to the broader engineering team.

Qualifications/Requirements -BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Physics-Minimum experience of one year in Acoustics measurement and standards.

-Minimum of three years design experience in consumer products, automotive or similar industry.

-Working knowledge of acoustic standards.

-Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, and chemistry-Experience successfully communicating with senior executives both verbally and in writing.

-Demonstrated history of working multiple design options in parallel.

-Experience in successful design, prototype construction, test plan execution and clear presentation of data to a diverse group.

-Demonstrated use of statistical tools to identify real and meaningful changes in acoustic performance.

-Possess laboratory skills sets related to energy, power, mechanical and sensor feedback measurements.

-Possess shop skills sets related to fabrication of basic plastic, wood or metal parts and fixtures required for product feasibility development.

-Proficient in Solidworks, ProE or other design package-Proficient in predictive tools such as Ansys or Cosmos-Proficient in simulated control design software such as LabView-Ten years experience in direct part and subsystem design-Understanding of high volume production of metal and plastic components along with a general knowledge of tooling design.
